4-1-2. DHCP
DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) enables individual computers on an IP network to extract their
configurations from a server (the DHCP server) or servers, in particular, servers that have no exact information
about the individual computers until they request the information. The overall purpose of this is to reduce the
work necessary to administer a large IP network. The most significant piece of information distributed in this
manner is the IP address.
WAN Port IP Assignment:
Select DHCP (the most common setting) to configure the WAN port MAC, WAN port
ping, and DNS server settings.
Basic Network Setting > WAN > DHCP
Host Name:
The Host Name is optional but may be required by some ISPs. The default host name is the
device name of the telephone adapter and may be changed.
