Parameter
Description
Current Mode
Displays the switch’s current operating
mode.
Restart Mode
Allows the selection of the operating mode
of the switch after a switch restart. The
options are Layer 2, Support IEEE 802.1Q
VLANs, and IP Routing, Support IEEE
802.1Q VLANs.
Layer 2 Switch Settings
Note:
Layer 2 Switch functions and settings are also available
when the switch is configured to operate in the IP Routing (Layer
3) mode.
Note
:
A very long MAC Address Aging Time can result with the
out-of-date Dynamic Entries that may cause incorrect packet
filtering/forwarding decisions. A very short aging time may
cause entries to be aged out to soon, resulting in a high
percentage of received packets whose source addresses cannot be
found in the address table, in which case the switch will
broadcast the packet to all ports, negating many of the benefits of
having a switch.
