10/100Base-TX Fast Ethernet Ports
The device contains 10/100 Base-TX Fast Ethernet ports. The ports are an RJ-45 ports which support half- and
full-duplex mode 10/100Mbps.
Combo Copper/SFP Ports (100Base-FX/1000Base-X Fiber Ports)
By offering a standard, hot swappable electrical interface, one gigabit ethernet port can support a wide range of
physical media, from copper to long-wave single-mode optical fiber, at lengths of hundreds of kilometers
is its flexibility. Where multiple different optical technologies are in use, an administrator can purchase GBICs as
needed, not in advance, and they can be the specific type needed for each link. This lowers the cost of the base
system and gives the administrator far more flexibility.
Small Form Factor Pluggable
(SFP) Optical Transceivers are integrated duplex data GBIC links for bi-directional
communication over multimode optical fiber, designed for high-speed Fiber Channel data links. The SFP ports
(combo ports) are designated as 1000Base-X or 100Base-FX and can be also designated as 2 Copper 100Base-
T/1000Base-T ports which are RJ-45 TX auto-sensing switching ports.
The SFP (GBIC) port can be removed and inserted as required. The following figure illustrates the GBIC insertion.
