3. Connect the Mini-B end of a USB cable to connector J46 of the CCG1 Host Demo board and the other end to a
PC/ laptop. The USB-Serial bridge on the CCG1 Host Demo board will enumerate as
“USB Serial Port (COM#)”
under
“Ports (COM & LPT)” and “USB-Serial (Single Channel) Vendor MFG” under “Universal Serial Bus
controllers
”. The drivers will be installed automatically. The USB-Serial drivers can also be downloaded from the
page. Refer to the
USB-Serial Windows Driver Installation Guide
manual installation of drivers. Follow the instructions in section
to configure the USB-SERIAL device as a
USB-I2C Master Bridge.
4. Configure the CY4502 board for any of the applications listed in section
5. Connect one of the Type-C plugs of CY4502 board to the Type-C connector (connector J15) of the CCG1 Host

6. The CC_Flash Utility can be found at the location

or can be downloaded (CC_Flash Utility.zip) from this
7. Launch the Command line and run the utility using the following command for upgrading the CYPD2103 part
using a firmware image, e.g.,
‘CYPD2103_Main.cyacd’:
cc_flash.exe ..\Firmware\CYPD2103_Main.cyacd f SOP’ MAIN NO_UFP
Note:
The LED corresponding to the chip being upgraded (LED1 for U1; LED2 for U2) will not glow during the
upgrade and will turn ON after the upgrade is complete. If the CY4502 board is configured to two chip EMCA
application with both the chips powered, then both the LEDs will glow when the upgrade is complete.
The description for the command arguments can be found below:
cc_flash.exe <input_file> <Mode> <SOP Type> <FW Image Type> <Ufp_present>
Where:
input_file: Path to the input firmware image file with the extension
.cyacd
.
Note:
Firmware images are not included with the CY4502 DVK installer. Firmware image for the CSP
(CYPD2103-20FNXIT) and the DFN (CYPD2103-14LHXIT) parts are different. Contact
appropriate CCG2 firmware images.
Mode: Firmware update mode
