5.5 Rescue
In situations where a person is unconscious or otherwise unable to descend by themselves,
he/she can be rescued by another person using the
Smartline X .
Follow the instructions for rescue:
1. Approach the person to be rescued. Use appropriate fall protection equipment to pro-­
tect yourself from falling.
2. Position yourself in a safe and appropriate position next to the casualty.
3. Open the bag and access the Smartline X.
4. Detach the karabiner from the anchor sling. Place the anchor sling around a structure
and into its karabiner as shown in fig.
1:A or fig. 1:B . The anchor must be able to support
a load of 12 kN (EN795). Attach the Smartline X as shown in fig.4 .

5. Connect the karabiner at the end of the line to an attachment point on the harness of
the person to be rescued. On full body harnesses, an upper attachment point should
be used. Ensure that both karabiners are locked.
