Using WebCam Control with the VFW driver 4-7
The number of steps (levels) for zooming depend on the image’s output size you select on the
Stream Format dialog box (see Figure 4-1 on page 4-1):
Advanced settings
The following sub-sections describe the settings found on the Advanced tabbed page of the
Video Source dialog box.
Compression control
Video Blaster WebCam offers a compression option that can improve the frame rate. However,
a higher frame rate may affect the image quality.
In the Compression control group box on the Advanced tabbed page, select either Faster
Video (higher compression rate, lower image quality) or Better Quality (lower compression
rate, higher image quality).
Banding filter
Under fluorescent lighting, the frequency of the power supply to the light may cause “banding”
in the video captured by the camera. “Banding” refers to the appearance of bands that are of a
brightness or shade different from that of the original display.
To filter out these distortions, enable the banding filter by selecting the Enable check box.
After you have selected the Enable check box, select the frequency of the power supply to your
light: 50 Hz or 60 Hz.
