ASSEMBLY
When shaft alignment and distance are correct,
connect the two shafts with the short double v-joint
driveline. To do so, pull back the driveline collar. Slide
the driveline onto the fan mount shaft until there is
enough clearance to slip the other driveline end onto
the adapter shaft. Then, release the collar and slide the
driveline toward the combine until it locks into position
on the fan mount shaft.
Install the fan drive shield over the idler pulley and fan
drive sheave (Figure 35). Use five 3/8” x 1” hex bolts
and four 3/8” nylock nuts.
Attach gusset plate to the back end of fan mount as-
sembly with four 3/8” x 1-1/4” carriage bolts. Then, at
-
tach the gusset plate to the angle iron on the underside
of the combine grain tank as shown in Figure 36. Mark
and drill two holes for 3/8” x 1” bolts. Install two 3/8” flat
washers and a 3/8” nylock nut on each bolt.
Close the combine RH side shield.

Install bushing and sheave on the fan shaft. Use a
straight edge to check the alignment of the front and
back fan drive sheaves (Figure 33). Adjust the sheaves
until they are flush. Then, tighten the 3/8” fan mounting
U-bolts and fan support bracket bolts to 30 ft-lbs.
Install the drive belt on the two sheaves and take the
slack out of the belt. To do so, loosen the mount bolts
shown in Figure 33. Then, tighten the two adjustment
bolts at the front of the fan mount assembly. When
finished, tighten the nuts on the adjustment bolts and
tighten the mount bolts to 30 ft-lbs. Finally, tighten the
adjustment nut of the spring loaded idler pulley (Figure
33) until belt deflection is 5/8” when a 20 lb. load is
placed against the belt.
Make sure the adapter shaft lines up with the rear
fan mount shaft. The driveline that will connect these
two shafts
must not
work at an angle greater than 5
degrees. Also, check the distance between the two
shafts. It must be 7.75” (Figure 34). If the alignment
and/or distance is not correct, you may need to adjust
the front end of the fan mount assembly bolted to the
platform.
