1.7 Specific safety precautions for steel brushing
• Remember that bristles can dislodge from the wire brush even during normal use.
Do not force the wire brush wheel by applying too much pressure. Loose wires
from the brush can easily penetrate skin or thin clothing.
• If a shatter guard is recommended when steel brushing, make sure that the
brush wheel does not touch the shatter guard. The bristles of wire cup brushes/
wire brush wheels can expand under load or from the centrifugal force so a gap
between the shatter guard and the wheel is essential.
