RS485 port modes
These modes are set using the RS485 Mode parameter. Refer to
UD70
set-up parameters at the beginning of this chapter for details of the source,
destination and scaling parameters.
Mode
Description

Standard 4-wire RS485, ANSI protocol.

Master mode. A binary protocol is used to continually transfer the value of
the parameter defined in #17.08 to another UD70, MD29 or Drive. The data
is scaled
±
16000.

Slave mode. The UD70 receives data, applies a scaling and places the final
value in the parameter specified by #17.08.

Cascade mode. The value of the parameter defined in #17.08 is transmitted
and received data goes into parameter defined in #17.09. No scaling is
applied.

2-wire RS485,
ANSI
protocol.

User Mode. This mode turns off all internal protocols and allows the user to
use the RS485 port directly from the DPL program. Typically, this Mode is
used in conjunction with the DPL ANSI master commands (ANSIREAD,
ANSIWRITE, etc).
User defined protocols can also be implemented in DPL with the low level
PUTCHAR and GETCHAR commands. The communication data-frame is
organised as: 1 start bit, 7 data bits,
EVEN
parity and 1 stop bit (10-bits total).

User Mode. Same as Mode 6, but the communications data-frame is
organized as: 1 start bit, 8 data bits,
EVEN
parity and 1 stop bit (11-bits total).

User Mode. Same as Mode 6, but the communications data-frame is
organized as: 1 start bit, 8 data bits,

parity and one stop bit (10-bits
total).

User Mode. Same as Mode 6, but the communications data-frame is
organised as: 1 start bit, 9 data bits

I/O Box mode. This mode allows a single I/O Box to be connected directly
to the UD70 using the EIA RS485 port.

User Mode. Data bypasses the software FIFO buffer, reducing the delay in
data being transmitted or received. The baud rate selected in parameter
#17.07. The communications data-frame is organised as: 1 start bit, 9 data
bits,
NO
parity and one stop bit (11-bits total).
