VTop Control Valves

3.9 – PRE-COMMISSIONING CONTROL OPERATIONS
All the internal parameters, such as the motor torque requested, the position, the operating status and other parameters
are constantly monitored during operation of the PSL-AMS actuator, this means the position of the valve is of utmost
accuracy and that closure of the valve is always guaranteed. Changes can be read using the PSCS communication
software or using the PSC.2 local control panel (additional manual), or it can be displayed on the control cabin using
the error indication relay optional, to ensure maximum process safety.
3.9.1 – FINAL POSITION LIMITATION
The final limits of the PSL-AMS actuators can be adapted to optimal operation of the valve, using the PSCS
communication software (use a special interface cable or, alternatively, a Bluetooth connection). This will result in
various actuator behaviours. If a position is surpassed or not reachable, this can be read using the error indication relay
optional or using the PSCS communication software.
3.9.1.1 – Thrust/Torque limitation
The actuator frees the planned maximum force/torque each time it reaches the final position. If the closure point inside
the valve is modified, for example when the seal gasket is worn, the actuator will move forward based on its actuation
range, trying to reach the planned force/torque.
3.9.1.2 – Automatic positioning limitation
In normal operation, the actuator stops in the position it was in as the mechanical stop of the valve or the actuator,
during automatic commissioning. If the closure point of the valve changes, the actuator CANNOT follow this variation,
but always stops in the initially found point.
3.9.1.3 – Stroke limitation
In normal operation, the actuator stops in the point defined via manual stoppage. This position does not depend on any
mechanical stop inside the valve or the actuator.
3.10 – FINAL COMMISSIONING
The actuator is delivered in the “not commissioned” position with a green LED flashing slowly. There will be no reaction
to any input (control signal or opening/closure signal).
Based on the type of configuration of the limitations (see 3.10.1) there are two commissioning modes:
-
Automatic
if at least one limitation (opening or closure) is set to “torque” or “automatic positioning”.
-
Manual
done if both the limitations (in opening or closure) are “by position” or using the PSCS software or
using the PSC.2 control panel.
