Freezing and storing foods in the freezer compartment
• to preserve deep-frozen foods.

When buying frozen foods
• The packaging must not be damaged.
• Use according to the “best before date / use by date on packaging”.
• If possible, transport deep-frozen foods in an insulated bag as quickly as possible and place them in the freezer.
Storage of frozen foods
Store at -18 °C or below. Do not open the door of the freezer compartment unnecessarily.
Freezing fresh foods
Freeze only fresh and undamaged foods.
To preserve the best possible nutritional value, taste and colour, vegetables should be blanched before freezing.
Aubergines, peppers, courgettes and asparagus do not require blanching.
The following foods are suitable for freezing:
Pies and pastries, fish and seafood, meat, game meat, poultry, vegetables, fruits, herbs, shell-less eggs, dairy products,
such as cheese and butter, prepared meals and leftovers, such as soups, stews, cooked meat and fish, potato dishes,
soufflés and desserts.
The following foods are not suitable for freezing:
Types of vegetables that are usually consumed raw, such as lettuce or radishes, shell eggs, grapes, whole apples, pears
and peaches, hard-boiled eggs, yoghurt, curdled milk, sour cream and mayonnaise.
Recommended storage times for frozen foods in the freezer compartment
These times vary depending on the type of food. Foods that you freeze can be preserved for 1 to 12 months (at least
at -18 °C).
Energy saving tips
When defrosting frozen foods, you can put them in the refrigeration chamber, which will help in cooling the
refrigeration chamber.
Make sure that the temperature sensor is not covered or blocked by foods and place the foods at a sufficient distance
from it.
