switcHboard settings
The LiveShot Switchboard server is maintained by Comrex on the public Internet at the address of
switchboard.comrex.com
. Organizations with larger fleets of products, and those who simply need to
host their own server, can change the address of the server in this section.
Normally, LiveShots can only make CrossLock connections to other LiveShots in their Switchboard
accounts. The list of other LiveShots detected within your account appears in the Switchboard Settings.
If you need to make CrossLock connections to LiveShots outside your account, they can be added
into the list of available CrossLock mates here. Select “
Add Peer
” at the bottom of the list. The fields
required to add a peer are shown in
Figure 42
.
figure 42
You should provide the name of the LiveShot unit in the name field, and the unit ID (Ethernet MAC
address) in the next field.
Under “
Allowed
”, choose “
always
” to be sure connections are allowed regardless of Switchboard
accounts. Finally, enter the public IP address of the new peer (if outgoing connections are desired).
Both sides need to add their respective peers in order for CrossLock connections to work in either
direction outside the Switchboard environment.
In current firmware, the function of Switchboard is to help locate Crosslock mates, and to aid in factory
support diagnostics. If neither of these functions is desired (e.g., Liveshot is working on a closed
LAN), Switchboard can be disabled in this menu as well. In future firmware, Switchboard will handle
additional functions like store and forward and making connections.
