Hard Drive Overview
The TaskSmart W2200 appliance server contains two drive bays for either ATA or SCSI hard
drives, however, the number of drives supported by the appliance server varies by the model.
The server ships standard with two 1-inch drive trays. The following subsections provide
general guidelines and installation procedures for installing or upgrading hard drives.
Guidelines for ATA Hard Drive (Model 10)
When replacing ATA hard drive in your TaskSmart W2200 appliance server, observe the
following general guidelines:
■
Populate only Device 0.
■
Set the jumpers on the ATA hard drive to Cable-Select mode.
IMPORTANT:
The ATA hard drive must be configured to the Cable-Select mode.
NOTE:
In TaskSmart W2200 appliance servers, the ATA hard drive is set to Cable-Select mode by
default.
NOTE:
Refer to the documentation that shipped with your hard drive to determine how to set the jumpers
on your ATA hard drive to Cable-Select mode, if they are not already set in Cable-Select mode.
Guidelines for SCSI Hard Drives (Models 20 and 30)
Each SCSI hard drive installed into a TaskSmart W2200 appliance server must be configured
with a unique SCSI ID number. Unique identification allows the system to search for the lowest
numbered drive to use as a bootable partition. By default, the jumpers on Compaq SCSI hard
drives are set to ID 0 and may need to be reset when the drive is installed as an optional or
replacement drive in the server.
CAUTION:
Installing unsupported hard drives may damage your system by consuming power
and generating heat in excess of the server operating tolerance.
This condition may result in a loss of system or data integrity, or both.
NOTE:
Refer to the documentation that shipped with your hard drives to determine how to set the
jumpers on your SCSI hard drives.
