In case of stubborn blockages
Material that doesn’t free when the blade is reversed might need to be cleared from
inside the cutter housing.
Proceed as follows:
1.
Switch the shredder off and
unplug it from the mains supply.
2. Remove the four socket head screws
(21) that hold the blade housing cover
(22), using the included hex key.
3. Remove the cover and clear away any
debris from around the blade (23) so
that it can rotate freely.
4. Refit the blade cover and screw it
securely into place.
Note:
The shredder is fitted with a no-volt release switch which prevents the machine
from automatically starting again after a power cut.
Overload safety cut-out
1. If the shredder is overloaded, e.g. the blade drum is jammed, the motor will
automatically stop after a few seconds.
The overload cut-out protection switch automatically cuts off the power supply to
the motor. Wait for 1–2 minutes to give the motor time to cool before pressing the
reset button (17).
2. Then press [
l
] to start the shredder again.
Adjusting the pressure plate
The cutting mechanism consists of a rotating blade drum and a pressure plate which
the blade on the drum strikes against. For optimum shredding, the gap between
the blade and the pressure plate should be 0–0.5 mm. The gap is pre-set by
the manufacturer and should not need to be adjusted before the shredder is used for
the first time. After some use, the pressure plate may need to be adjusted in order for
the shredder to work effectively. This is done as follows:
1. Set the rotation direction selector (20) to
for normal use. Start the shredder.
Turn the adjustment screw (11) slowly and carefully (half a turn moves
the pressure plate about 0.5 mm) clockwise until a scraping sound is heard
and small aluminium shavings fall out of the ejection port.
2. The gap between the blade and the pressure plate is now 0 mm and is set for
optimum shredding.
