3. Inspect the smooth surface on the fixed and moveable sheaves. Sheaves must be replaced if surfaces are worn
more than 0.060 in. (1.5 mm).
4. Inspect the bronze bearing in the moveable sheave. If the bearing bore diameter is more than 1.384 in. (35.15
mm), the entire moveable sheave must be replaced.
5. Inspect the shaft of the fixed sheave. There should be no noticeable wear. Replace the fixed sheave if it is
worn, scratched or damaged.
6. Inspect the retaining ring. If the outside diameter is more than 1.607 in. (40.82 mm), replace the retaining ring.
DRIVEN CLUTCH ASSEMBLY
1. Place the three drive buttons (2) in position. Apply one drop of Loctite ® 222 to each of the socket-head cap
screws (1) and then install and tighten them to 8 in·lb (0.9 N·m) (Figure 23-19, Page 23-16) .

2. Slide the acetal washer (3) and moveable sheave (4) onto the fixed sheave (5) (Figure 23-20, Page 23-17) .
