Diagnostics
Radio will not power up.
Check that there is 12 volts positive power on both the yellow and red wires (pins
A4 and A7) and that there is a good earth (ground/chassis) connection on pin A8.
Check that there is sufficient power in the vehicle battery. Check for loose/corroded
connections in both the power and earth connections.
Radio powers up but no sound.
Make sure that there is no short circuit on any of the speakers and that they do
not share a common negative or earth. Check that the speaker wiring is not cut or
trapped anywhere particularly into the doors, through grommets around metal etc.
Make sure that the fader control has not been adjusted (if only 2 speakers are
connected)
Make sure the speakers are actually functional, particularly if they are a number of
years old.
No/poor fm reception
Check that the antenna is fully extended and the connector is clean and pushed
firmly into the radio socket.
Check for any damage to the aerial cable from cuts, sharp bends/kinks and that it
is earthed to the bodywork correctly and that there is no short circuit or corrosion
particularly if exposed to the elements or is a number of years old.
If it is a powered antenna, check that there is power to energise the antenna circuitry/
motor.
Radio reception is often better outside and away from buildings. Reception can be
affected by some radio transmitters, mobile phone masts, power lines, fluorescent
and led lighting etc.
Try re tuning the radio.
No/poor dab reception.
Firstly check that you are in a dab reception area. If in doubt check the dab web site
www.ukdigitalradio.com for further information on your area.
Make sure the aerial connection is connected to the radio fly lead correctly and that
there is power and earth to the antenna. See installation instructions.
Make sure that the antenna conductors are making contact with the window
element and that there is no contamination of the contacts. Check that the cable is
not trapped or kinked/folded or cut anywhere.
