Instructions for use
Wash all parts of the fondue set except the hotplate unit before initial use. Wipe the hotplate
clean with a damp cloth and make sure that it is completely dry before plugging it in.
1. Place the electric fondue set on a firm, heat resistant surface where it is stable and position
the pot where there is minimum risk of someone catching on the handles and spilling hot food.
2. Add the oil/stock/cheese to the fondue pot.
Note:
Never let the contents of the pot exceed
2 litres.
3. Plug the electric hotplate in and turn the temperature knob to an appropriate setting.
When the set temperature has been reached the hotplate will stop heating. The built-in
thermostat will keep the temperature at the set level. The maximum temperature is 175 °C.
4.
Caution:
Steam may be released from the fondue pot during cooking. Avoid contact with
the steam as it is hot and could cause burns.
5. Keep an eye on the contents of the pot and stir if necessary, do not allow the food to boil.
6. When making cheese or chocolate fondue, use the forks to dip the pieces of food into
the melted cheese or chocolate.
7. When making meat fondue, skewer a piece of meat onto the end of the fork, place the fork
rest onto the pot and rest the fork on the fork rest while the meat is cooking.
Some cooking tips
Cheese fondue
Set the temperature to max and stir continuously while the cheese it melting. Once the cheese
has melted, the temperature should be lowered to a setting which just keeps the cheese hot.
Chocolate fondue
Oil (vegetable), must be added. You cannot use chocolate alone.
Add 2 tablespoonfuls of oil for every 350 ml chocolate. Turn the pot to the highest temperature and
stir the oil and chocolate mixture continuously until it is well blended. For a thinner consistency, add
more oil, a tablespoon at a time until the desired consistency is reached. Once the chocolate has
melted, turn the temperature down to a low temperature and make sure that the chocolate does
not boil or stick to the pot.
Oil/Stock
• Fill to no higher than the max mark on the inside of the pot.
• Use only vegetable oil. The oil should be changed regularly. Do not use the same oil more
than 4 times.
• Used oil smells bad and is often cloudy and dark.
• When changing the oil, empty out all of the old oil and wash the pot thoroughly. Make sure
that the pot is completely dry before pouring new oil into it.
• All food should be completely thawed and cut into small pieces before it is cooked.
