7. “E=0.95”: Indicates that the default
emissivity is 0.95. Emissivity: describes
the energy-emitting characteristics of
a material. The higher the emissivity
value, the greater the material’s ability
to emit energy. Most organic materials
and painted or oxidised surfaces have
an emissivity of 0.95–0.98.
8. Backlight symbol (the backlight cannot
be switched off).
9. Laser pointer indicator (the laser pointer
cannot be switched off for temperature
measurements but goes off when
the trigger is released).

12. Measured temperature.
13. “SCAN”: Measuring in progress.
14. “HOLD”: Appears along with the measured
temperature when the trigger is released.
Operating instructions
How does an IR thermometer work?
IR thermometers measure the infra-red radiation emitted by all objects and
convert the information about the external temperature of the object collected
by the sensor (2) into a visual display on the screen of the thermometer.
The laser pointer (1) makes it easier to aim the thermometer at the surface to be
measured and has nothing to do with the actual temperature measurement.
