Removing the Fan Tray
To remove the existing fan assembly, follow these steps:
When removing the fan tray, keep your hands and fingers away from the spinning fan blades. Let the fan
blades stop completely before you remove the fan tray.
Caution
Unplug all power sources before performing this procedure.
Caution
Always wear the ESD wrist strap when installing or uninstalling the fan tray.
Caution
SUMMARY STEPS
1.
Locate the fan assembly in the chassis. The fan tray is located to the left of the chassis on the rear side.
See the following figure.
2.
Loosen the two fan tray captive installation screws by turning them counterclockwise, using a flat-blade
or number 2 Phillips-head screwdriver.
3.
Grasp the fan assembly with both hands, and pull it outward; rock it gently, if necessary, to unseat the fan
assembly power connector from the backplane.
4.
Pull the fan assembly clear of the chassis, and set it aside.
