Mounting the Chassis (Supplemental Ground not
required) in a Wall Mount Installation
Note: A supplemental ground connection is required for 3916 DC
Standard installations. The supplemental ground connection is optional for
3916 AC Standard and 3916 Dual AC Standard installations. A
supplemental ground connection is not required or available for mini
chassis systems. For systems that require a supplemental ground
connection see
“Mounting the Chassis and Installing Supplemental
Ground in a Wall Mount Installation” on page 2-25 for a procedure.
The mounting procedure for standard chassis and mini chassis systems
varies as follows:
• Standard chassis — the chassis must be positioned on the wall so that the
air outflow and power supply are at the bottom and the air intake is at the
top
• Mini chassis — airflow is from the faceplate to the back of the chassis. Mini
chassis systems can be mounted so that the faceplate is facing left or
right.
Note: Neither the standard chassis nor the mini chassis systems can be
mounted with the faceplate facing up or down. They must be mounted in
a horizontal orientation.
Step Action
1 The wall mount instructions for standard and mini chassis systems are
different as follows:
• Mini chassis — position the chassis on the wall facing left or right as
desired.
• Standard chassis — position the chassis on the wall so that the air outflow
and power supply are at the bottom and the air intake is at the top.
Note: For a standard chassis system, when left facing mounting is required
for cable routing and faceplate access, the bracket will need to be mounted
so that the unpainted underside of the unit faces outward when installed.
2 Mark the locations of the mounting holes on the wall.
3 Set the chassis aside and install customer supplied fasteners/anchors to the
wall in the marked locations as required.
