Note:  

This unit has been designed and tested for installation in areas 

prone to earthquakes (zone 4). To ensure proper operation it must be 
installed in a proper frame.

WARNING

The chassis of the 3916 should never be opened under any 
circumstances. Opening the chassis will void the warranty.

The system chassis must be returned to Ciena for service or 
replacement.

Power supply modules and transceivers are field-replaceable, 
however, the modules or transceivers must be returned to 
Ciena for service or replacement.

WARNING

Before working on equipment that is connected to power lines, 
remove jewelry (including rings, necklaces, and watches). 
Metal objects will heat up when connected to power and 
ground and can cause serious burns or weld the metal object 
to the terminals.

WARNING

Do not work on the system or connect or disconnect cables 
during periods of lightning activity.

WARNING

To prevent ESD damage to electronic components, always use 
an ESD wrist strap when handling modules.

WARNING

Do not stack anything on top of this unit. The mounting 
brackets provided with this unit are designed to support only 
the weight of this unit, if they fail due to excess weight, it can 
cause bodily injury and damage the equipment.
