5. UNIT PLACEMENT
5.1 PRE-PLACEMENT PREPARATION
In order to place the unit in the work area, a suitable spot must be identified that is large enough to house
the unit.
The Panning machine (a kind of copper kettle) must be placed on a hard level surface that is capable of
bearing the weight of the unit. Furthermore, the Panning machine should be placed at a height that
allows the operator to operate the unit safely.
The electricity supply line to the unit in the designated work area must comply with all the requirements
specified by the current applicable regulations and must, in any event:
–
be equipped with a safe and effective earthing system;
–
be equipped with switching devices and automatic safety trip switches that will be triggered in the
event of any power leakages, earth-leakages and short-circuits.
Power to the unit is supplied by connecting the unit’s power supply cable into the local power outlet in
the area where the unit will be operating.
5.2 OPERATING ENVIRONMENT
It is the employer’s responsibility to designate a suitable spot to place the unit that meets all the
requirements of the European Union workplace safety regulations.
Such areas should be:
-
easy to clean so as to ensure adequate hygiene conditions;
-
well ventilated (good natural or forced air-flow);
-
adequately lit by natural or artificial lighting.
5.3 PLACEMENT, ASSEMBLY AND ADJUSTMENT
Under normal circumstances, the individual unit components are shipped with their respective accessories
already fitted and therefore unit assembly only involves the following steps:
-
mounting
the kettle and the support frame work to the main body of the unit. Kindly refer to the
“MAINTENANCE” section of this manual for instructions on the assembly/disassembly of the kettle.
–
placement,
or rather the positioning of the unit in the designated work area;
–
connection to the electricity supply
as specified in the Operation and Maintenance Manual.
