How to operate the device
Switch the device on by moving the switch lock forward and then press and hold down the ON/OFF switch. Switch the device off by releasing the ON/OFF switch.
A wire brush and a plastic brush are supplied with the device. The wire brush is intended for use on rugged surfaces and with stubborn weeds. We recommend
using the plastic brush on light growth and surfaces that are too sensitive for the wire brush.
Important!
Always do a short test run to check the possible effects on the surfaces of the flagstones or paving stones before you start your work. Never use the
device on very sensitive surfaces such as tiles.
Important!
Only use brushes that are in good condition. Replace excessively worn or damaged brushes immediately.
Always use both hands when using the device.
Guide the device along the joint at walking pace.
Work at a constant speed to ensure consistent results.
Guide the device along the same joint several times if necessary.
Switching off and storing
Switching off the device
Switch off the device by releasing the ON/OFF switch on the handle.
Using the device incorrectly might damage property. Therefore you must follow these safety instructions:
Prevent the battery from discharging by removing the battery from the device if it will not be used for a long time.
Do this by pulling the battery out of the adapter.
RISK OF INJURY FROM A RUNNING BRUSH TOOL!
Do not lift the device off of the ground when switching it off as you might get pulled in!
Do not put the device down on the brush during work breaks or after use as this will damage the bristles. Always hang the device up or lay it down.
Storing
Dangerous situations that might cause injuries can arise when handling the device. Therefore you must always keep the device out of the reach of children.
- Clean off all dirt or foreign bodies from the device.
- Store the device so that it hangs in a dry and frost-proof place.
Storing the battery and charger correctly
Ensure that you always follow the “Safety instructions for handling the charger and the battery” listed in the “Safety instructions” chapter.
Using the device incorrectly might damage property . A discharged battery must not be stored without it being recharged first. A discharged battery can be de-
stroyed during long-term storage, especially if it is already low, through self-draining. Therefore you must follow these instructions if it is not going to be used for
a long time (e.g. during the winter months):
- Store the battery with a charge level of approx. 40 - 60%.
- store the battery in a dry, high, enclosed and frost-free place at a temperature between 0°C and 45°C. Self-discharging and chemical aging are at their lowest in a
+15°C storage temperature. Keep out of direct sunlight.
- Check the charge state indicator on the charger if the battery is not going to be used for the next 6 months or longer. Recharge the battery to approx. 40 - 60%
capacity whenever necessary.
Maintaining and cleaning
RISK OF BURNS FROM HOT DEVICE PARTS!
The device’s drive parts or components might still be very hot during assembly or conversion work and they can cause burns. Therefore you must follow these
safety instructions:
- Always wear protective gloves during maintenance & cleaning!
Cleaning
Using the device incorrectly might damage property. Therefore you must follow these safety instructions:
- Remove the battery before cleaning.
- Never submerge the device in water or spray it or clean it using water. The device must be protected from moisture.
- Keep all of the safety devices, ventilation openings and the motor housing as free as possible from dirt and dust.
- Wipe the device with a clean cloth or blow it clean using low-pressure compressed air.
- We recommend that you clean the device immediately after use.
- Do not use cleaning agents or solvents as they may aggressively attack the device’s plastic parts.
- Ensure that water cannot get inside the device.
- Use a brush to clean the protective cover if you find dirt or soot in it.
Wear
- Replace the joint brush if its diameter has worn down to approx. 90 mm
Disposal
Never dispose of power tools as your household waste!
According to European Directive 2012/19/EU, used power tools must be collected separately and recycled in an environmentally friendly way.
Never dispose of batteries in your household waste!
Remove the batteries from the device before disposal. Defective or used batteries must be recycled according to Directive 2006/66/EU. Take the battery
pack and/or device to the collection point. Contact your local or town office for information about disposal options for your old power tools/battery pack.
Dispose of the packaging in an environmentally friendly way.
Observe the labelling on the various packaging materials and separate them
as necessary. The packaging materials are marked with abbreviations (a) and
(b) with the following meanings: 1–7: plastics, 20–22: paper and cardboard, 80–98: composites
