Operating Precautions

This Pulse Monitor is not a precision medical instrument!

Note that this Pulse Monitor is intended for use as an exercise tool only.
It is not a precision medical instrument.

 Types of exercise

The Pulse Monitor is designed for use while walking. Strong impact and
vibration during running can make it impossible for the sensor to
correctly monitor your pulse.

 Use in cold weather

The Pulse Monitor detects the movement of blood in your earlobes to
determine your pulse rate. Very cold temperatures can cause poor blood
flow to your earlobes. When it is cold, massage your ears to stimulate
blood flow before attaching the clip.

 Ear clip position

The best position to wear the ear clip differs from person-to-person. If
you experience problems with getting a good pulse reading, try changing
the position of the ear clip on your ear until you find the best one.

 Removing the ear clip

When removing the ear clip from your earlobe, make sure you squeeze
the clip so it opens. Never pull on the wire to remove the ear clip. Doing
so can damage the wire.

 Pierced ears and earrings

Remove earrings before attaching the ear clip. If you have pierced ears,
avoid attaching the ear clip in the vicinity of an earring hole. Also, take
care that there is no hair between the ear clip surfaces and your earlobe.
This can cause incorrect measurement results.

 Use in the rain

Avoid using the Pulse Monitor in the rain. Exposure to water creates the
risk of malfunction.

 Storing the Pulse Monitor

Never store the Pulse Monitor where excessive force or pressure will be
applied to its arms. Such conditions can cause deformation of and
damage to the arms.

 Low battery indicator

Replace the battery as soon as possible after the low battery indicator
(

) appears.

 Care of the Pulse Monitor

Should the Pulse Monitor become dirty, wipe with a soft, dry cloth, or
with a cloth moistened in a solution of water and a mild neutral
detergent. Never use thinner, benzene, or other chemical, or any agent
that contains alcohol.

 Precautions when handling the arms

The arms of the Pulse Monitor are foldable.
Never apply undue force when folding or
unfolding the arms. Be especially careful
that you do not try to force the arms wider
than they are designed to unfold normally.
Applying too much force when folding or
unfolding the arms can damage them.
