Troubleshooting

This section provides information about what you need to do when you
run into operational problems.

If this happens:

The voice error message
“Check ear clip.” keeps
sounding.

The voice error message
“Error.” keeps sounding.

The pulse value is
abnormal.

The energy consumption
and body fat burned
values don’t change.

The energy consumption
and body fat burned
values are abnormal.

The time in target range
value does not change.

I can’t display
measurement memory
contents.

Check this:

Is the ear clip attached to your earlobe?

Attach the ear clip securely to your ear.

Is the ear clip positioned correctly?

Change the position of the ear clip on
your earlobe.

Is it very cold?

Massage your ears to stimulate blood
flow.

Is the ear clip connected?

Make sure the ear clip connection is
secure.

Is the wire or ear clip damaged?

Replace the ear clip with a new one.

Is the measured pulse within the
measurable range?

Keep your pulse rate within the range of
30 to 199 beats per minute.

Is the ear clip attached securely to your
ear?

A loose or improperly fastened ear clip
can allow strong light to interfere with
proper pulse measurement. Make sure
the ear clip is attached correctly and
securely.

Are you in an area where there is electrical
noise?

Strong electrical noise can cause pulse
rate measurement errors. Avoid such
areas where electrical noise is being
generated.

Is your exercise causing severe vibration?

The Pulse Monitor is designed for use
while walking. Strong impact and vibration
while running can make it impossible for
the sensor to correctly monitor your pulse.

Are you exercising at a sufficiently high
intensity?

The energy consumption and fat burned
values produced by the Pulse Monitor will
not change unless you achieve a pulse
rate of at least 90 beats per minute. Try
walking faster to increase your pulse rate.

Are your personal information settings
correct?

Proper measurement readings are not
possible unless your personal information
settings are correct. Check your settings
and make any changes that are
necessary.

Are you exercising at an intensity that keeps
your pulse within the target pulse range?

Try to keep the intensity of your exercise
at a level that keeps you within your target
pulse range.

Is an elapsed time operation in progress?

Measurement memory contents cannot
be displayed while the stopwatch is
performing an elapsed time operation.
Stop the elapsed time operation before
trying to view measurement memory
contents.

Important!

Resetting the stopwatch to all zeros will
clear measurement memory contents.
