Adjusting the Gloss of a Custom Paper Type

You can adjust the glossiness of a custom paper type. The Gloss Adjustment mode enables you
to adjust the gloss on printed image by adjusting the temperature of the fixing assembly.

Depending on the paper type, if you change the setting value, the temperature of the fixing
assembly may be changed.

CAUTION

•

The Gloss Adjustment mode is effective only when using coated paper.

•

The Gloss Adjustment mode may not function correctly if you change its value abruptly. Make
sure to change the value in small increments.

IMPORTANT

Only user-registered paper types can be edited.

NOTE

•

You cannot change the detailed information of paper being used for copying/printing jobs.

•

Adjusting this mode may affect the paper curl status. Readjust the Curl Correction Level setting, if
necessary. (See "Adjusting the Level of Curl Correction of a Custom Paper Type," on p. 6-122.)

•

When the value is '0', the temperature of the fixing unit does not change even if you press [+].
