UV light (UV lamps)
CAUTION
• Be aware that UV light is an invisible risk for eyes and skin. Superficial eye damage and
burning of skin can occur with even a brief exposure to UV light. Serious injuries can result
from prolonged exposure, especially if unshielded. Keep a distance of at least 1.0 m from UV
lamps when printing, to prevent eye and skin damage.
• UV light emissions are highest at a height of 90 cm above the floor and increase significantly
the closer you are to the lamp.
• Avoid skin contact with UV lamp bulbs. When heated, compounds from the skin can form
permanent etching of the surface of the UV lamp bulb causing premature failure.
• The UV spectrum emitted by the machine consists of UVA (315–400 nm), UVB (280–315 nm)
and blue light between 400–500 nm. Wear UV safety glasses (goggles) with side shields and
lenses that block UVA, UVB and blue light (e.g. UVEX safety spectacles CBR 65).
• Wear clothing that protects the skin against UV light. Gloves and long-sleeved clothes are
essential to reduce skin exposure to UV light.
• UV lamps operate at a high temperature. Do not touch these lamps in operation. Let the
lamps cool for a minimum of five minutes before attempting any maintenance.
• Use extreme care in handling UV bulbs. UV bulbs contain a small amount of the toxic
mercury (Hg). If bulbs are broken, take care to clean up the spill immediately Broken UV
bulbs must be disposed according local regulations concerning mercury disposal.
• Avoid looking directly at the UV light.
• As a UV lamp warms up, it briefly passes through a section of the light spectrum which
excites oxygen molecules enough to create ozone. Once a UV lamp has completely warmed
up, only a very small amount of ozone is present. A high concentration of ozone can cause
irritation, headaches or nausea. Provide adequate ventilation as indicated in the related
Product Safety Data Sheet (PSDS) of the printer.
Liquid Crystal Display (LCD)
CAUTION
• Do not touch or ingest fluids from a broken Liquid Crystal Display (LCD). When clothes or
skin come into contact with the fluid, immediately clean the clothes and skin with soap and
water. After eye contact, immediately rinse the eyes with a washing lotion for at least 15
minutes and consult a physician.
• Do not rub, press or touch the (LCD) display surface with a hard material, because the
polariser at the surface can be easily scratched. The LCD module can get damaged when you
drop, pinch too hard or punch the module, as it is made of glass. When glass breaks, be
careful not to get injured by pieces of glass.
Printing room (pollution)
IMPORTANT
• Keep your printing room environments clean. This prevents dust buildup inside the printer
and avoids damage to the machine.
