SIM
SETTINGS
One
of
the
key
features
of
GSM
is
the
Subscriber
Identity
Module
(SIM),
commonly
known
as
a
SIM
card.
The
SIM
is
a
detachable
smart
card
containing
the
user's
subscription
information.
This
allows
the
user
to
retain
his
or
her
information
after
switching
handsets.
The
SIM
has
a
security
feature
which,
when
enabled,
will
require
the
user
to
enter
a
valid
PIN
before
the
modem
will
connect
to
the
cellular
network.
From
the
Home
page,
select
SIM
Settings
from
the
left
navigation
panel
to
confirm
the
modem
recognized
the
SIM
card.
SIM
STATUS
should
read
ACCEPTED.
PIN
STATUS
may
show
the
PIN
to
be
DISABLED
or
ACCEPTED.

for
information
on
changing
the
PIN
and
PIN
status.

ENABLING
PIN
SECURITY
As
shown
in
the
previous
section,
the
default
setting
for
PIN
Security
is
disabled.
Before
enabling
the
PIN
Security
feature,
make
sure
you
have
the
PIN
number
provided
by
your
wireless
carrier.
Change
the
Disable
PIN
setting
from
Yes
(shown
in
Figure
7)
to
NO.
Enter
your
carrier
provided
PIN
into
the
Current
PIN
field.
Click
SAVE
to
access
the
PIN
Security
Settings
(shown
in
Figure
8).
