5.4 GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING CHECKLIST

This section provides a checklist of troubleshooting procedures to help
you resolve the most typically encountered problems that can occur with a
Token Ring network installation. To check the MicroMMAC-T
installation:

Trace the ring path through the network to be sure that there are no
breaks in the ring and that it is free from physical design errors.

•

Check that each cable connection is secure.

•

Verify the pinouts for each connection.

•

Use a cable tester to check the cable conductors for continuity.

Ensure that all devices operating on the same network are set to the
same ring speed.

Ensure that the maximum station count is not exceeded.

Ensure that the maximum cable lengths are not exceeded.

Ensure that station networking software is configured properly to
match the installed network.

Once these checks confirm a correct installation, the MicroMMAC-T is
ready for normal operation.
