CONNECTING TO AN EXTERNAL TRANSCEIVER

3.2.1

AUI Port

Figure 3-2. Connecting an AUI Cable

Any adapter with an AUI port can be connected to the network via
an external transceiver and an AUI cable. The AUI port should
have been selected during adapter configuration procedures.

For safety, only one end of a thin-net segment
should be connected to earth ground. Connection
to earth ground at more than one point on the
segment can allow the occurrence of dangerous
ground currents.
