Step 13. Set the Quality of Service (QoS) for the traffic descriptor.
This section describes how to set the level of QoS that the traffic descriptor will use. Refer to
Figure 17
.
Figure 17 Setting the QoS for the Traffic Descriptor
Figure 17
contains two callouts, which are defined as follows:
A
Displays the MIB command used to view this information (atmTrafficQoSClass) and the OID string used
to access this command (1.3.6.1.2.1.37.1.5.1.8).
B
Points out that the traffic descriptor (value 15) is about to be set to integer 2. Integer 2 represents a
Variable Bit Rate (VBR) QoS.
!
CAUTION
The level of QoS MUST match the QoS supported by the traffic descriptor set back in
step 5
. In this example, the traffic descriptor type is “atmNoClpScr” which indicates a
VBR connection. If the types of QoS do not match, the traffic descriptor will NOT
function properly. Refer to
Table 8
for a list of all ATM traffic descriptor types. Refer to
Table 9
for a list of the integers available for setting the QoS, and what types of QoS
those integers represent.
