high gain antennas and elevate the antennas 10' to be able
to get even a mile range.
Here is what we tell our customers: If you know you want
to/have to transmit 1 mile keep in mind you may need
higher gain antennas to make it happen. You don’t have
to purchase them up front, but don’t be
shocked
if you
need just a little more signal to get where you want to go.
Antennas play a major role in signal strength so just keep
that in mind when you make your purchase.
DO NOT MOUNT YOUR ANTENNAS DIRECTLY TO
METAL!! This will drastically reduce the antenna’s
performance......Use non-conductive materials (wood,
fiberglass, etc.)
Transmitting data wirelessly over long distances is a tricky
business, but we feel that we accomplish this task ex-
tremely well even in the harsh, less than ideal environ-
ments our systems operate in.
(Where will I place the Portable Base?)
Since the base
is not taking pictures the rule of thumb is the "higher the
better". Mounting the base unit higher should increase
your reception and draw less attention. If it is "work" to
get to the unit, the less likely it will be stolen.

Signal Interference and Testing
Electric fences, High Power lines and Cell towers may
affect signal. Look around your site for things that might
affect the signal....
Running ATVs and vehicles etc.
will
affect the signal.
So do not test your signal strength while in or on
your vehicle/atv.
Step away from the vehicle.
Always check your signal strength several times before
giving up. If you don’t get a signal on the very first try
always test the signal 2 or 3 times before moving it to
another location. Since testing the signal strength is
not an exact science, and basically a miracle of modern
science, it is not uncommon to get “No Comm” occasion-
ally even though the camera and base can actually com-
municate just fine.
