SMART 200 TSS
Interface specification
The TS5.. sensors communicate with the external world by means of the following
signals:
!"
1 Output signal
(STOP)
programmable via software as Normally Open
(NO)
or Normally Closed
(NC)
!"
1 Analogue Output signal variable depending on yarn tension
!"
1 Input signal (
ENABLE
) programmable via software as Normally Open (NO)
or Normally Closed (NC)
!"
2 Optical Output signals (green Led and red Led)
!"
1 Optical Button (Touch Light) used by the operator for sensor numbering,
and STOP signal de-activation.
STOP Signal Function
The STOP signal is an OPEN COLLECTOR output by means of which the TS5..
sensor signals a defect detection. If the output was programmed as NO, as soon as
a defect is detected, the sensor activates the STOP output and keeps it active until it
is reset using the Touch Light button or through the ENABLE input, as shown in
the following figure and in the figure of the next page.
#
The sensor signals a defect
(Red LED Flashing )
$
The sensor releases the STOP signal when skimming the Touch Light, and, after waiting for a
time corresponding to "DELAY CONTROL"
(Green LED flashing)
resumes the normal control
(Green LED permanently lit).

!"
Collector continuous current: 200 mA
!"
Peak collector current : 500 mA
!"
Vce = 1.2V with I_ collector = 500mA
ENABLE Signal Function
The ENABLE signal represents for the TS5.. sensor an Input signal having two
different effects on its operation, depending on the STOP signal status.
If the sensor did not activate its STOP output, the activation of ENABLE signal
causes the sensor to be disabled, signaled by one flash of the red led; the green led
blinks until the ENABLE Input is released. The following figure shows an example
of ENABLE signal programmed as NO.
#
The sensor is disabled after one flash of the Red LED and the Green LED starts blinking.
$
The sensor is re-enabled after one flash of the Red LED and waits for a time corresponding to
DELAY CONTROL
(green LED flashing
) before resuming the normal control
(green LED
permanently lit).
If, on the contrary, the sensor activated its STOP output, when the ENABLE signal
too is activated, the TS5.. device releases the STOP signal, but still maintains the
Red LED signaling until the ENABLE signal is released and, after waiting for a
time corresponding to DELAY CONTROL, it resumes the normal yarn control.
