A choice of answering modes
Your Freestyle 1500 Plus answering machine
gives you the choice between Answer & Record
or Answer Only modes.
The Answer & Record setting plays your
outgoing message and allows callers to leave
their message. There is a pre-recorded
outgoing message which is:
‘Hello, your call
cannot be taken at the moment, so please leave
your message after the tone’
. Alternatively, you
can record your own message as described on
page 23.
The Answer Only setting plays a fixed,
pre-recorded message, which is:
‘Hello, your
call cannot be taken at the moment so please call
later’
. It does not allow the caller to leave their
own message.
It is not possible to record an alternative
Answer Only message. It has been carefully
worded so it will not reveal whether you are in
or out - simply that you are not available to
answer the phone.

Using the
answering machine

When setting the number of rings before your
Freestyle 1500 Plus answering machine takes
the call, please remember that callers normally
expect to be answered within 10 seconds. Most
will hang up after a maximum of 45 seconds.
To set your Freestyle 1500 Plus to answer calls
within the normal period of 10 seconds, you
should set the number of rings to 3. The factory
setting of 6 rings equates to about 18 seconds.
