4.1.2 CONNECTING THE POWER/CAN NETWORK
Connect the Power/CAN connector of the Pulse MD unit to the Power/CAN loom. See
Figure 10
.
Attention!
Always apply BouMatic grease to the connectors and plugs.
!
4.1.3 CONNECTING THE MILKING SIGNAL
The Pulse MD system has the ability to monitor pulsation continuously or only when the unit is milking. It is strongly
recommended to monitor only when milking is taking place because pulsation phases may change significantly when
the system is not milking. The milking signal also provides information for management purposes. To set up the Pulse
MD system to monitor only during milking, a milking signal needs to be received from an automatic take-off.
4.1.3.1 PULSE MD WITH SMARTLITE DETACHERS
In SmartLite systems, the milking signal comes from the SmartLite detacher board over the network. There is no need to
wire a milking signal. SmartLite Control units and Pulse MD units must be connected to the same CAN-bus. See
Figure
11
. In looms document,
Lit. 1069
, there is an example of how a SmartLite system is connected in the same network with
a Pulse MD system.
In the Pulse MD configuration software, each Pulse MD unit has to be linked with a unique SmartLite stall number and
the concerning parlor zone number. For more information see
Section 5.1
for stall assignation and
Section 5.3.7
for zone
assignation, or access the help sections in the SmartConnect - Pulse MD and SmartLite Web interface.
