4 Charging batteries
Set the control knob (2) to the left-
hand limit position (minimum char-
ging current) and read off the char-
ging current on the ammeter (3)
before every charging operation.
The charger must be switched off
and checked by the Bosch after-
sales service if the current is greater
than 5 A.
The recommended charging capa-
city is 210 (100) Ah.
Normal charging via timer
1. Switch off main switch (7).
2. Set the voltage selector switch
(6) to ”0” (OFF).
3. Securely connect the charging
clips to the battery, ensuring that
the polarity is correct:
– red clip to positive terminal
– black clip to negative terminal
If violent sparking occurs
when the charging clips are
connected, the clips have
not been connected to the
correct battery poles.
4. Set selector switch (5) to
Normal
Selector switch must not be in
another position!
5. Set the control knob (2) to the
left-hand limit position.
(minimum charging current)
6. Set timer (1) to the desired char-
ging time.
7. Turn the voltage selector
switch (9) to the position ”12 V”
or ”24 V”.
8. Switch on main switch (7).
9. Set the charging current to the
value specified by the battery
manufacturer at the control
knob (2).
The instructions of the bat-
tery manufacturer must be
observed in all cases when
setting the charging current.
In this operating mode the
charging current should not
be greater than 10% of the bat-
tery capacity (Ah).
Example:
In this operating mode a maxi-
mum charging current of
100 Ah x 0.1 /h = 10 A
is required for an 100 Ah battery
10. Continuously monitor the char-
ging current on the ammeter (3).
The charging process must
be ended as soon as the bat-
tery begins to produce gas!
After the end of charging:
11. Switch off main switch (7).
12. Set the voltage selector
switch (6) to ”0” (OFF).
13. Remove the charging clips from
the battery.
Rapid charging via timer
Rapid charging may only be
carried out on a tested battery
which is in perfect condition.
The instructions of the bat-
tery manufacturer must be
observed in all cases when
setting the charging current.
There is a risk of destroying
the battery due to overchar-
ging.
In this operating mode, there-
fore, the charging process
must always be monitored
and manually ended imme-
diately after the charging
period!
Rapid charging is carried out as des-
cribed under normal charging.
In this operating mode the
charging current should not
be greater than 100% of the bat-
tery capacity (Ah).
Example:
In this operating mode a maxi-
mum charging current of
45 Ah x 1 /h = 45 A
is required for an 45 Ah battery
Recharging
When the set charging time expires,
the charger switches over to rechar-
ging
.
The timer is not functioning
now.
There is a risk of destroying
the battery due to overchar-
ging.
In this operating mode, there-
fore, the charging process
must always be monitored
and manually ended imme-
diately after the charging
period!
The recharging current is dependent
on the battery voltage and is 3 A for
12 V (5 A for 24 V).
After the end of charging:
1. Switch off main switch (7).
2. Set the voltage selector
switch (6) to ”0” (OFF).
3. Remove the charging clips from
the battery.
Rapid charging
without time limitation
Charging without time limita-
tion can lead to destruction of
the battery and should there-
fore be carried out with the
utmost caution !
