and J-Cable) and, if required, FPEA cable available, but do not connect it to the vehicle until
instructed to by AFIT.
2. Hang the FMU from the vehicle’s hood.
3. Connect the MCU to the vehicle’s 12V power port or battery.
4. Turn the MCU
ON
. AFIT displays the following screens during power-up:

• Version information screen
• Power-up/self-test screen
—If AFIT displays

, check the fuse inside the rear compartment on the MCU.
—If AFIT indicates
FMU NOT Connected
, connect the FMU.
—If AFIT’s database (dbase verify) displays

, you will need to restore it using the
AFIT PC Application software.
—If the vehicle’s battery is below 10.5 volts AFIT flashes
LOW BATTERY.
Recharge the
vehicle’s battery before continuing.
5. Press
ENTER
to continue to
Vehicle Selection
.
Important
If the engine is hot, or after cleaning the injectors, make sure you allow for a cool
down period
before
you begin testing. A hot soaked engine condition may affect
the test results. Please refer to the vehicle’s Service Information/Shop Manual for
recommended temperature ranges during testing.
