Checking the
tires
The tread is far less important for bicycle
tires
than it is for car
tires
, for example. Consequently,
tires
can still be used with a worn tread with the
exception of
tires
on mountain bikes.

Check the tread wear. The
tire
is worn if the
anti-puncture protection or the carcass cords
are visible.
Since resistance to punctures also depends on
the thickness of the tread, it may make sense
to change the
tire
at an earlier stage.

Check the side walls for wear. If there are
any cracks or tears, the
tire
must be replaced.

Replacing a wheel requires considerable
mechanical expertise. If a
tire
is worn, it needs
to be replaced at a specialist dealer.
