       GasFinderMC Operation Manual — Data I/O 

         July 17th 2017

Serial Communications

The 

GasFinderMC

 will transmit serial data at 300 / 1200 / 2400 / 4800 / 9600/ 19200 / 38400 

/ 57600 / 115200 / 230400 baud, no parity, 8 bits, one stop bit, (i.e., 9600,N,8,1) after each 
scan. Two handshaking options are available:

No Handshaking — Connect pin 4 (PCDTR) to pin 12 (+5VDC) at the

GasFinderMC

 end 

of the data cable. Data will be sent automatically after every scan. This is the standard 
confi guration of the cable as supplied by Boreal Laser Inc.

DTR Handshaking — The control computer raises the voltage to +5VDC on pin 4 (PCDTR) 

• 

in order to request a data string. Data are transmitted as an ASCII string and will be sent only 
when requested by the host computer.
