Boreal Laser Inc. GasFinderMC Operation Manual— Installation July 17th 2017
The data cable carries the RS232 signal between the GasFinderMC and the computer,
which stores and displays the data. It also enables the GasViewMC program to alter various
parameters in the GasFinderMC remotely. The cable supplied by Boreal Laser Inc. is marked
with a yellow band,
The cable length should not exceed 30m. If a longer distance is required, other options are
available:

Power Cable Connections
The GasFinderMC will accept a power from any suitable source. (see specifi cations page 1.3).
A power cord is supplied with the GasFinderMC . If necessary, the plug may be removed and
a local plug connected with appropriate pins or the cord wired directly to a circuit breaker or
fuse.
In areas where the power supply is intermittent, the use of an Uninterruptible Power Supply
(UPS) that has a minimum rating of 200VA is
recommended.
An internal 3 amp fuse is accessible at the rear
of the
GasFinderMC .
Data Cable
this allows a twisted pair of wires to carry the data up to 300m.
these are very small units connected with a multi-mode fi breoptic
cable. Distances covered can be many kilometres.
these are usually spread-spectrum type and can transmit data over
distances limited by line of sight. Depending on the type of antenna,
they may work in, or surrounded by, buildings.
