System not operating, display not illuminated. •
Check the power supply.
- is the equipment plugged in? Is the supply socket live?
- is the power cable intact? (See Appendix F)
There are no user serviceable components contained in apparatus, all units
must be returned to factory for repair.
Status message: “Low Light - No Reading” •
Check that the windows, mirror and IMOS retro in
the sensor cell are free of condensation and dirt.
This can be done by unfastening the covers from
the ends of the cell and inspecting the surfaces.
Condensation removal is usually a question of waiting until the air fl owing
over the surfaces evaporates the moisture.
It is possible to increase light level by unscrewing the white nylon screws in
the black attenuator which is at the front of the
GasFinder AB . These should
be unscrewed in unison and a check kept on the light values as the tension is
released in the fi bre.
Cleaning dirty windows and mirrors will require the cell to be removed from
the helicopter and the cover removed (see page 6.2)
If the system is suspected of being out of alignment, contact Boreal-laser for
instructions.
A broken cable or bad connection between the cell and the
GasFinderAB on
either the fi bre or coaxial cable will also cause a “Low Light - No Reading”. A
diagnostic test kit can be supplied for this check.
Note : If the system enters the “Low Light - No Reading” status condition
due to temporary path obstruction, normal operation will automatically
resume once obstruction has been removed.
No data transmission from GasFinderAB to the computer •
Check that the correct baud rate is selected (usually 9600).
This is done by entering System Menus , and scrolling to the Serial Baud
Rate window.
Verify that the data cable is connected and the cable is OK (see Appendix F)
Check that on the voltage between pins 5 and 12 on the
GasFinderAB DB15
connector is 5V. When the GasFinderAB is operating, it is possible to see a
very short signal pulse between pins 2 and 5 on the DB9 connector at the end
of the serial data cable.
