Engaging D, R, N

Briefly press the selector lever in the desired
direction, possibly overcoming a pressure
point. When moving from

on the selector lever.
As soon as you release the selector lever, it
returns to the centre position.

P is engaged automatically if you
unfasten the driver's seat belt and open

the driver's door with the car at a standstill and
the transmission in position R or D.

R Reverse

Engage this gear only when the car is standing
still.
An interlock prevents you from inadvertently
engaging transmission position R. To cancel
the interlock, press the release button

Engage this gear only when the car is standing
still. The rear wheels are locked.

P is engaged automatically as soon as
you switch off the engine, unless N is

engaged and, on vehicles with comfort access,
the remote control is in the ignition lock, see

N Neutral

You can select this in a car wash, for example.
The car will be able to roll.

N remains engaged after the engine has
been switched off if you leave the remote

control in the ignition lock. This function is use-
ful e.g. in a car wash, see page

D Drive, automatic position

Use this position for all normal driving. All for-
ward gears are selected as necessary.

Kick-down

You can achieve maximum performance in the
kick-down position.
Press the accelerator pedal down beyond the
regular full-throttle position; increased resist-
ance will be felt.

Sport program and M/S manual-shift
mode

Press selector lever to the left from transmis-
sion position D:
The Sport program is activated and DS appears
in the instrument cluster. This position is rec-
ommended for a performance-oriented driving
style.
