WARNING
• This instrument may become dangerous if damage to the protective (grounding)
conductor (inside or outside the instrument) occurs or if disconnecting from the
protective ground terminal.
• Before switching on this instrument and before connecting any other cable, the
protective ground terminals of this instrument must be connected to the protective
ground conductor of the power cords. The power plugs shall only be inserted in a
socket outlets provided with a protective ground contact. The protective action must
not be negated by use of an extension cord (power cable) without a protective
conductor (grounding).
• Make sure that only fuses with the required current rate, as marked on the mux’s rear
panel, are used for replacement. The use of repaired fuses and the short-circuiting of
fuse holders is forbidden. Whenever it is likely that the protection offered by fuses
has been impaired, the instrument must be made inoperative and should be secured
against any unintended operation.

ONNECTING THE
AC P
OWER
Figure 3-3 shows the muxes’ rear-panel power connectors. Each mux has dual AC power supplies, with dual
power plug inputs and a power switch for each power supply.
AC power should be supplied to the mux through the included 5-foot (1.5-m) standard power cables
terminated by standard 3-prong plugs.
To connect the mux to AC power:
1. Make sure the corresponding ON/OFF switches
on both
of the mux’s rear power-supply panels are set to OFF.
2. Connect each power cable to the connectors on the mux’s rear panel.
3. Connect each power cable to the mains outlets.
3.6 Rackmounting the Mux
The optional Rackmount Kit (RM1001) includes two brackets and a set of screws for mounting the mux in a 19"
rack. The brackets affix to the sides of the mux and to the rack, with the brackets’ posts aligned with the
recessed holes on the sides of the mux.
