Introduction
About SNMP Manageable Media Converters
As networks grow in size and complexity, the ability to quickly
detect problems and determine where they reside in your network
becomes increasingly important. Using interchangeable media
conversion modules that can be installed in any combination, the
SNMP Manageable Media Converter series of products (including
SNMP Manageable 12-Slot Telco Chassis and SNMP Manageable
6-Slot Chassis) not only can meet virtually any installation
requirement, but also provides fault isolation information through
user-configurable SNMP management software.
NOTE: SNMP Manageable 12-Slot Telco Chassis and SNMP
Manageable 6-Slot Chassis will be referred to as SNMP Media
Converters except where differences need to be indicated.
About SNMP Management Modules

From each SNMP Media Converter equipped with an SNMP Master
Management Module (hereafter referred to as SNMP Master Module),
you can create logical and physical managed stacks that map to your
network configuration. Each SNMP Master Module can manage as
many as 60 conversion modules installed in up to six chassis (one
Master SNMP Media Converter and five SNMP Media Converters with
SNMP Slave Management Modules installed). Each SNMP Slave
Management Module (hereafter referred to as SNMP Slave Module)
includes an RS-485 SNMP management uplink, allowing up to 500
