The SNMP Master Module is connected to the LAN via an external
10Base-T hub connection. The SNMP Slave Module provides an
SNMP management uplink to the SNMP Master Module.
Once each Slave is installed, it has to be connected to the Master
SNMP Media Converter (either directly or through another Slave
connected to a Master). All Slave SNMP Media Converters must be
installed, via RS-485 connection, within 500m from the Master SNMP
Media Converter.
When powering up your series (or chain) of SNMP Media
Converters, all Slaves must be powered up before powering up the
Master.
Connecting a Master SNMP Media Converter
To connect a Master SNMP Media Converter to the network, plug
one end of a twisted pair cable into the port labeled “LAN” on the
SNMP Master Module. Plug the other end of the twisted pair cable
into a device (e.g.: switch, hub, etc.) in your existing 10 Mbps
Ethernet network.
