Installing a Managed SNMP Media Converter
The hardware installation for a managed SNMP Media Converter is
similar to that of an unmanaged SNMP Media Converter, except that
each managed SNMP Media Converter has to either have an SNMP
Master or Slave Module installed. Slave SNMP Media Converters must
be connected to a Master SNMP Media Converter.
To install a managed SNMP Media Converter, follow the instructions
for installing an unmanaged SNMP Media Converter, then continue as
instructed below.
Installing SNMP Master/Slave Modules
Installing SNMP Master and Slave Modules is the same. To install
an SNMP Master/Slave Module, remove the blank bracket covering
the slot where the module is to be installed (located in the front,
lower left corner of the chassis) by removing the two screws located
closest to the outside edges of the bracket. Next, slide the module
into the chassis, via the cardguides, until the module is seated
securely in the connector on the backplane. Secure the module to
the chassis by tightening the thumbscrews.

Connecting Master and Slave SNMP Media Converters
As stated in the introduction, each SNMP Master Module can
manage itself and up to five additional SNMP Media Converters with
SNMP Slave Modules installed, allowing a total of up to 60 managed
conversions. Slave SNMP Media Converters can be used in any
combination with a Master SNMP Media Converter; you can have five
Slave SNMP Media Converters of the same variety or any combination
of SNMP 6-Slot Chassis and SNMP Telco Chassis.
