Height adjustment:
•
Press the pushbutton (fig. 21) in order to move the armrest into the
required position.
•
When you have reached the required position, release the
pushbutton. The locking device then clicks into place.
•
The height has then been correctly selected, if the upper arm and
forearm are more or less at right angles when the forearm is laid on
it.
4.4. Brakes
Using the parking brake
To use the brake just push the brake lever forward until it snaps (fig.
22). To loosen the brake, pull the lever backwards (fig. 23).
Adjustment of the parking brake
If you should notice any unusual braking behaviour you have to do the
following:
•
First check the tyres for adequate air pressure. There should be a
pressure of 300- 400 k Pa (3-4 bars) (does not apply to tyres which
are puncture proof tires).
•
Check the tread depth. Pay attention whether ther is even abrasion.
If the tread depth is > than 1 mm, the tyres must be replaced by a
qualified mobility dealer.
•
Now check the adjustments of the brake. It must be adjusted in the
way that there is a distance between the running surface of the
wheel and the pivot bolt of 12 mm when brakes are open. The pivot
bolt must be horizontal e.g. parallel to the ground.
•
After loosening the Allen screw with a hexagon socket (5 mm) on
the brake mount (fig. 24), you can position the brake correctly.

•
The parking brakes effect only one driving wheel at a time.
•
Pay attention to have the same air pressure on both driving wheels
to achieve a directional stability.
•
Once the adjustment process is completed, firmly tighten the
loosened screw up again and carry out a brake test!
•
The brake system should be adjusted only by a qualified mobility
dealer.
In general !
Since the drum brake is the most important safety device on your
wheelchair we recommend the use of a drum brake when an assisting
person is frequently pushing the wheelchair, the drum brake is
optionally available. Besides the drum brake allows deceleration.
At a drum brake the braking shoe does not effect the tire, but brakes
in the wheel hub, this braking system is largely independent of the tyre
condition (air pressure).
4.4.1. Drum brakes
Using the drum brakes by an accompanying person
The drum brake is operated by pulling both brake levers simultaneously
(Fig. 24a). Remember that both sides must be pulled at the same time
to prevent the wheelchair from skewing sideways.
If you want to park the wheelchair, operate the brakes until the
wheelchair comes to a standstill. Then lock the knee lever parking
brake (Fig. 22) to prevent the wheelchair from rolling away.
