The BIAX pneumatic grinding spindle is machine-
controlled and permanently mounted.
It is used for
•
finishing,
•
smoothening, drilling, brushing and
•
deburring.
Any other use of the BIAX pneumatic grinding spindle
is deemed improper and prohibited. Modifications to
the grinding spindle are only permitted with the
explicit consent of Schmid & Wezel. In the event of
non-compliance, Schmid & Wezel shall not be held
liable for any damage.
Before working insert the tool as far as possible into the
chuck and secure it tightly! Then operate the valve to
control the grinding spindle.
The BIAX pneumatic grinding spindle may only be used
with suitable formed grinding heads and hard-faced
milling spindles.
Never use the machine with cutting wheels!
Always adhere to the instructions regarding speed and
mounting length. The minimum clamping length is 10 mm.
When using hard-faced milling spindles, the admissible
peripheral velocity may not be exceeded!
Please observe EN 792-7 and all respective
manufacturer’s instructions as well.
Safety instructions
During working, there is a risk of injury
to eyes from sparks and chips. Always
wear protective goggles when working
with the grinding spindle!
Depending on the worked material, the
normal noise level
may be exceeded.
Always wear earmuffs!
If dust is generated during processing,
always wear protective mask and switch
on the dust extraction system at your
workplace.
Health protection
Wear tightly fitting clothes. Do not wear any jewellery.
Long hair must be covered with a hairnet!
Do not touch electrical components. The grinding spindle
is not completely insulated against powered components!
Handling of pneumatic grinding tool
At the beginning of each shift, and after prolonged breaks,
inspect the machine and the tool for visible damage.
Ensure that the tool is properly secured in the drill chuck.
Use only undamaged formed grinding devices and hard-
faced milling spindles!
Before changing the tool or carrying out maintenance
work on the machine, always disconnect the unit from the
compressed air supply line!
During operation, the operating pressure may not exceed
6 bar!
When the machine is switched off, the spindle continues
rotating for a short while!
To secure the tool, use a vice or other clamping device!
Please note that compressed air in the hose might lead to
unexpected machine behaviour when the spindle is being
started!
The hose attached to the spindle must be in perfect
working order. Prior to working with the machine, inspect
the hose and couplings for damage.
Workplace safety
Keep your workplace tidy!
Grinding results in sparks. Remove all flammable objects
from the work area!
Be aware of the risk caused by hammering air hoses!
When working with the machine, concentrate your mind
on the task in hand and keep other persons away from
your workplace!
Store your tools safely and service them regularly and
with the necessary care!
Repairs may only be carried out by suitably trained
technicians.
