1. Make sure that dust and dirt do not build up on the
battery.
2. Make sure that dust and dirt do not fall on the batte-
ry when you work.
3. Make sure that any dust and dirt that falls on the
power tool when working does not get on the bat-
tery.
4. Store batteries in a location that is free of dust and
dirt when they are not in use.
5. Remove any dust or dirt from batteries before sto-
ring them and do not store them together with any
metal objects (screws, nails, etc.).
6. Do not pierce the battery with sharp objects such
as nails; do not hit it with a hammer, tamper with it,
or throw objects on it or subject it to physical stress.
7. Do not use obviously damaged or deformed batte-
ries.
8. Do not use batteries with the terminals reversed.
9. Do not connect them directly to an electrical socket
or the cigarette lighter socket in a car.
10. Do not use the battery pack for purposes other than
those specified.
11. If charging the battery is unsuccessful even after the
specified charging time has elapsed, stop charging
immediately.
12. Do not expose the battery pack to high temperatu-
res or pressures such as in a microwave oven or
high-pressure container or using a hair dryer.
13. Keep away from fire as soon as any leakage or
odours are detected.
14. Do not use in locations where strong static electri-
city is generated.
15. If the battery leaks, becomes weak, becomes hot,
discoloured or deformed, or seems in any way ab-
normal during use, charging or storage, remove it
from the tool or battery charger immediately and
stop using it.
CAUTION
1. If liquid leaking from the battery gets into the
eyes, do not rub your eyes but instead rinse them
thoroughly with fresh, clean tap water and seek
medical assistance immediately. Failure to do so
may result in eye problems.
2. If the liquid comes into contact with your skin or
clothing, wash immediately with clean tap water.
Contact may cause skin irritation.
3. If you discover rust, foul odours, overheating, dis-
colouration, deformation and/or any other unusual
conditions when using the battery for the first time,
do not use it and return it to your dealer or retailer.
WARNING
If a foreign electrically conductive material comes into
contact with the battery terminals, the battery may
short-circuit and start a fire. Make sure to follow the in-
structions below when storing lithium-ion batteries.
• Do not place any conductive objects such as
steel or copper nails or wires in the storage
compartment.
• To avoid short circuits, fit the battery in the
tool or put on the battery cover during storage
to conceal the fan.
5. TRANSPORTING LITHIUM-ION
BATTERIES
Observe the following precautions when transporting
lithium-ion batteries.
WARNING
Inform the transport company that the shipment in-
cludes a lithium-ion battery, inform the company of its
output and follow the transport company’s instructions
when arranging the transport.
• Lithium-ion batteries that exceed an output of
100Wh are considered hazardous goods and
will require a special application.
• For transport abroad, you will need to comply
with international law and the rules and regu-
lations of the destination country.
• If BSL36B18 (sold separately) is inserted in
the power tool, the output will exceed 100Wh
and the unit will then be classified as hazar-
dous goods when transported.
