5.6.1.3 GPI
The GPI are used to trigger the corresponding SCTE 104 events. For example, when the GPI 1 is triggered the
corresponding SCTE-104 messages will be inserted. At the same time, the SCTE message is also sent to iControl for
monitoring.
The GPIs are all contact closures to ground (GND). To select a GPI trigger (GPI 1 to 6), simply short the
corresponding GPI input pin to any GND pin.
GPI loading is a “single load” process triggered by a transition to ground: it needs to be activated only for a short
period (around 10 milliseconds) to be detected by the card. Since it is not activated by a level, it is not necessary to
maintain the level at ground after the activation.
5.6.2 SCTE-104 Extract Tab
When the Operating Mode is configured as “Extract”,
the corresponding configuration tab will be enabled in
iControl. The user can specify the exact SCTE 104
message that will trigger a GPI output.
5.6.2.1 Splice Request Detection
The user can specify the exact type of Splice_Request
that will trigger a GPI output. The Splice Event ID and
Program ID are optional parameters. When not used,
the GPI can be triggered on all Splice_Requests of the
specified type. Otherwise, you can narrow the GPI to
trigger only on the specified Event ID and/or Program
ID.
5.6.2.2 GPO
The GPO outputs are active low and will become a
contact closure to GND when the GPO is activated.
Otherwise, they are in an open high state.
GPO pulse duration
The GPO pulse duration can be adjusted to ensure
that it triggers downstream equipment.

Select the Default Pulse Duration checkbox to
set the value at 17 ms.
•
Move the slider or type in the databox to set the
value between 20 milliseconds and 500 milliseconds in steps of 10 ms when the Default Pulse Duration
checkbox is not selected.
The selected GPO pulse duration is global for all GPO.
The GPO pulse duration will be reset to default with Load Factory presets.
